How to Chart Basal Body Temperature

When should i get start?
  1. when u are thinking of conceiving... duhh
  2. many said that the easiest way to start charting is at CD1, which is the first day of cycle (this is the first day of ur period)

How do I get Start?
  1. buy yourself a Basal Thermometer. preferably those which can detect .10 degrees changes.
  2. BBT chart. here's a sample (in both Fahrenheit and degree)

What to do Next?
  1. take your own temperature. Fyi, basal temp. is the temp. when we are first awake in the morning. hence, no bathroom, no talking, no kissing but to take the temp. first thing after you opened your eyes.
  2. Just for accuracy, take your temp at the same time everyday. means, set up ur alarm so that u wont missed charting your temp.
  3. It is best to take your BBT after a minimum of 5 hours sleep, and at least 3 in a row is preferable.
  4. You can take your temperature orally, vaginally, or rectally -- just stay with the same method for the entire cycle.
  5. You should try to place the thermometer the same way each day (same location of your mouth, same depth vaginally and rectally).

How to read the chart?

  1. The general rule is that you have ovulated when your temperature rises .2 degrees higher than any temperature from the previous 6 days, and it stays elevated for at least 3 consecutive days. In general, post-ovulatory temperatures range from 97.7 upward.
